Kent League side Beckenham Town want ex-England star Teddy Sheringham for FA Vase ties

Kent League side Beckenham Town have made an ambitious bid to sign former England striker Teddy Sheringham for their FA Vase games this season.

The 43-year-old played for Millwall, Spurs and Manchester United and ended his career at Colchester last summer.

Chairman Chris McCarthy told the club website: "I'm really hopeful that between us we can it a reality. It's an enormously exciting prospect."

Sheringham recently played a celebrity game at Beckenham's Eden Park Avenue.
