Former champion Christie Kerr will take a two-stroke lead going into the final round of the US Women's Open.

The American, winner in 2007, shot a one-over-par 72 in testing conditions at Saucon Valley Country Club's Old Course to finish on two under.

She is the only player under par through 54 holes, with South Korean Ji Eyun-hee second on level par.

"It feels great," Kerr said about her pursuit of a second major title. "I'm not nervous. I feel calm."

She added: "I know what I've got to do tomorrow and I'm just going to go out and do it."

Ji shot a brilliant 32 on the back nine, rolling in birdies on the 10th, 14th and 17th greens and will be paired with Kerr, who carded three bogeys and two birdies during her round, for Sunday's final round in just her second Open.

"I was able to locate the balls anywhere I wanted, basically," said Ji through an interpreter.

American Jean Reynolds and Teresa Lu of Taiwan are two strokes further back, while Paula Creamer, who began the day one stroke behind playing partner Kerr, slumped to 17th place after a 79.
