Andy Murray's bid to retain his Rogers Cup title in Toronto remained on track after a comprehensive 6-2 6-2 quarter-final win over David Nalbandian.
The world number four broke in only the third game and eased to take the first set helped by his crushing backhand.
The Argentine was immediately broken in the second set and after a run of five successive games, the Scot powered on to secure a fine victory with an ace.
Murray's next opponent will be Rafael Nadal or Phillipp Kohlschreiber.
