Australia hit nine past Scotland

Australia 9-0 Scotland

Aussies dish out Scots hockey hammering

Scotland's men were thumped 9-0 by world champions Australia in their second Pool A game in Delhi.

Veteran full-back Luke Doerner scored a hat-trick for the Aussies, who have won each of the three Commonwealth titles since the sport was introduced in 1998.

Australia led 5-0 at half-time thanks chiefly to a Chris Cirilello brace and Rob Hammond's stunning reverse flick.

Simon Orchard and Des Abbott completed the rout to leave Scotland without a win from their opening two games.

The Scots lost their opening match, on Tuesday, 3-0 to Pakistan.
