Bangladesh claimed first blood in the five-match one-day international series against New Zealand with a nine-run win under the Duckworth-Lewis method.

The Tigers chose to bat first in Mirpur and 58 from 51 balls from Shakib Al Hasan helped them to 228 all out.

Brendon McCullum then fired seven fours and two sixes in 61 in 45 balls and put on 53 in seven overs with Jesse Ryder.

But rain intervened after 15 overs with the Kiwis on 85-4, and set a revised 210 from 37 overs they made only 200-8.
