0241: Here's your menu for today. We've got an hour of third and final practice starting at 0300 BST with qualifying at 0600 BST. Coverage of both sessions is on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra with qualifying on BBC One from 0500 BST. All of that is also available in the console at the top of this page. Tidy.

McLaren test driver Gary Paffett on Twitter: "Pretty constant rain at Suzuka. Not as heavy as expected but will be around all day. Conditions good to run on wets/inters."

Twitter
Lotus technical chief Mike Gascoyne on Twitter: "Morning from a wet paddock, although not as wet as predicted but still saying the rain will get heavier through the day."

0235: It certainly was a difficult day for the 2008 world champion at Suzuka yesterday, as a crash during first practice badly damaged his car and left him with very little running time to try out McLaren's modified front and rear wings. There were no such worries for the Red Bulls boys though as they dominated the opening day. Will anyone get close in third practice and qualifying? We'll know a bit more over the next four and bit hours.

0230: Morning all. Hope you managed to get some sleep. I got a full five hours; wonder if that was more than Lewis Hamilton managed?
