Sidebottom re-signs for Yorkshire

Sidebottom intends to see out the remainder of his career at Headingley

Paceman Ryan Sidebottom has re-signed for Yorkshire on a three-year contract.

The 32-year-old former England international left Headingley in 2004 for Nottinghamshire, where he won Championship titles in 2005 and 2010.

Huddersfield-born Sidebottom made his first-class debut for Yorkshire in 1997 and went on to win the 2001 County Championship and the 2002 C&G Trophy.

"I'm a Yorkshire lad and the chance to return to Headingley was something I couldn't ignore," he said.

"The Yorkshire side has some real quality and under Martyn Moxon and Andrew Gale made real strides forward.

"I want to give the county everything I can over the next three years and if we can reward the Yorkshire public with a trophy or two that would be fantastic."

Before retiring from international cricket in September, Sidebottom played 22 Tests, 25 one-day internationals and 18 Twenty20 games in a nine-year England career.

He made his Test debut against Pakistan in 2001 but failed to take a wicket and had to wait until 2007 for a recall, claiming eight victims against West Indies at Headingley on his way to becoming an integral member of the bowling attack.

Yorkshire director of cricket Moxon said: "I am delighted that Ryan has chosen Yorkshire ahead of many other interested counties.

"I think that proves Ryan's Yorkshire pride in that he wants to return to Headingley in 2011 and add his experience and talent to our bowling attack.

"He provides us with proven consistency and wicket-taking ability at county level and will provide Andrew Gale with a senior bowler of real quality to turn to next season."
