Rangers captain Barry Ferguson will receive a late fitness test after aggravating a knee injury in training.

Ferguson sustained the injury at Murray Park and boss Walter Smith said he was rated doubtful for the game against the German champions.

Gers midfielder Kevin Thomson will be available to Smith, despite a hamstring niggle. Lee McCulloch is suspended.

Stuttgart midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger will miss the game after failing to recover from a foot injury.
