Du Plessis won the last of his seven caps against England November 2008

South Africa have kept faith with the players who beat the British and Irish Lions for their Tri-Nations opener against New Zealand on 25 July.
Prop Jannie du Plessis is the only player in the 23-man squad who did not feature in the 2-1 series victory.
The world champions welcome back lock Bakkies Botha after serving a two-week suspension for dangerous charging.
But flanker Schalk Burger is banned for the entire tournament following an eight-week suspension for eye-gouging.
Utility forward Danie Rossouw is also included in the squad after recovering from concussion sustained during the dramatic 28-25 second Test victory against the Lions in Pretoria.

However, backs Wynand Olivier, Zane Kirchner, Odwa Ndungane and Jongi Nokwe, who all played in the 28-9 third Test defeat in Johannesburg, missed out on selection.
"The core squad that secured the series win (against the Lions) in the first two Tests has great potential as a unit and we believe that they have much more to offer," said South Africa coach Pieter de Villiers said in a statement.
"That is why we have made sure that we have remained consistent in our selection policy."
