Tottenham midfielder Wilson Palacios was taken to hospital after suffering a rib injury at the end of his side's 2-2 draw away at Everton on Sunday.

The 25-year told was hurt when he was fouled by Tony Hibbert, which resulted in a penalty that Jermain Defoe missed.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp revealed: "They have taken him to hospital and he is in a lot of pain.

"He is a tough lad so it can't be very good for him to be struggling like he is. Hopefully he will be OK."

Palacios has been a key figure for Spurs since arriving in a £12m deal from Wigan in January.

The Honduran international has made 25 league starts in central midfield, acting as the defensive foil to either Jermaine Jenas or Tom Huddlestone.

Palacios is also set to feature in next summer's World Cup, Hondurus having been drawn alongside Spain, Switzerland and China after qualifying for only the second time.
