Andrew Strauss hopes to mark his 100th cap by helping England become only the second team to beat the hosts in a one-day series in South Africa on Friday.
Only Australia have beaten the Proteas at home in a one-day series, but England lead 2-1 with only the match at the Kingsmead Stadium left to play.
But despite having a fully-fit squad from which to choose his team, Strauss is refusing to get ahead of himself.
"It would be a bit naive to talk about series victories," he said.
"We really want to come and win this series 3-1 (but) we have to play well on Friday and have to expect another South African backlash."
After the first match of the five-game series was washed out, England won the second and fourth matches by convincing seven-wicket margins.
However, in between the hosts claimed a comprehensive 112-run victory in Cape Town, and Strauss is aware South Africa will come out all guns blazing in Durban in a bid to square the series.
"We have to make sure we're at the races and put South Africa under pressure again," he said.
"It doesn't matter how good a side is, if you keep putting them under pressure then you are going to have success against them. We have been able to do that a couple of times this series and let's hope we do it one more.

"I think we've progressed quite a way but I am the last person to say we are the finished article. We still have a long way to go."
Strauss has been pivotal in both of England's wins, mainly through his captaincy but also at the top of the order alongside Jonathan Trott, whose form has been a revelation so far on the tour.
South Africa skipper Graeme Smith is keen for his side to put the pair under pressure at the top of the order and expose England's middle order - in particular Kevin Pietersen.
The South Africa-born batsman has yet to hit his straps on his return to the side following an Achilles injury - and that has only prompted increased goading from partisan crowds during the series.
"It happens round the world these days," said Smith. "I think a couple of England fans booed me on Sunday, so it's just something you become used to as an international cricketer.
"Fans are biased towards their teams. You have to learn to have a little bit of a thick skin.
"What we need to do is push England to perform under pressure. Disappointingly we haven't done that so far.

"If we had played to our potential England would have had to take a few more risks up front while they were batting instead of us allowing them to play a certain way."
South Africa may decide not to risk premier fast bowler Dale Steyn for the match as the paceman, who missed Sunday's seven-wicket loss, has a hamstring injury.
An MRI scan showed only a minor grade one tear but with the Test series starting on 16 December, he is unlikely to feature.
The South Africans are already without key all-rounder Jacques Kallis, who has had an injection in his injured rib and is rated only 50-50 to be fit for the opening Test at Centurion.
But coach Mickey Arthur is demanding a rally from his side on Friday, saying: "The home truths have been spoken, and now it is a matter of building the team up to try to square the series.
"But we're certainly not going to panic. We think we've got the best players here and we're confident we can bounce back."
