Ancelotti calls for Chelsea to entertain

Captain John Terry is doubtful with a knee injury for Chelsea's final Champions League group game against Apoel Nicosia on Tuesday.

Defender Ashley Cole (ankle) and midfielder Michael Ballack (knee) are also doubtful for the clash.

Defender Alex plus strikers Salomon Kalou and Daniel Sturridge are out but youngsters Daniel Philliskirk and Gael Kakuta have been added to the squad.

Chelsea have already won the group and may rest some first-team regulars.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti is confident defender Terry will recover in time but admitted with doubts over others he may give several of the younger players in his squad a run-out.

We've done very well, won four games out of five, and we want to finish this group with a good performance.

"I think that John Terry will be able to play on Tuesday but I have to control the next training session," said Ancelotti.

"I want to put the best team out, but the most important thing is to monitor the players, to check whether they're able to play on Tuesday.

"We had some problems with Terry, Ballack and Ashley, and I want to look at them before I name my squad. I think, on Tuesday, we can use some young players if Ballack, Ashley and Terry are not able to play.

"We have two aims on Tuesday. One is to maintain a good position in our group - we've done very well, won four games out of five, and we want to finish this group with a good performance.

"We have a home record we want to improve and, also, we have to have respect for the other teams because Apoel and Atletico Madrid are still competing for third place, an important place for them. We want to do the best."

Apoel have doubts over Nectarios Alexandrou and Christos Kontis (both calf) with the pair facing a late fitness test.

Boban Grncarov and Altin Haxhi also have calf injuries for the Cypriot side who must win at Chelsea and hope Atletico Madrid do not beat visitors Porto to secure third in the group and a place in the Europa League.
