England lose Sidebottom to injury

Ryan Sidebottom
Sidebottom took one wicket in the first ODI against Bangladesh

England fast bowler Ryan Sidebottom will miss the Test series against Bangladesh after flying home from the tour with an injury to his right thigh.

Coach Andy Flower confirmed the Nottinghamshire seamer will be replaced in the Test squad by Tim Bresnan.

Bresnan, who played two Tests against the West Indies in 2009, is currently in Bangladesh with the one-day squad.

Middlesex seamer Steven Finn has been brought in as cover for Sidebottom and Stuart Broad, who has a back complaint.

England are suffering an injury crisis in the bowling ranks with Sidebottom having already missed the second one-day international against Bangladesh in Mirpur.

Meanwhile, Broad's back injury has ruled him out of Friday's final one-day international in Chittagong.

Finn, 20, has been with the England Lions in Dubai, having also represented England at Under-16, 17, 18 and 19 levels after making his Middlesex debut in 2005.

However, the 6ft 7in right-armer, who was named in the provisional 30-man squad for the World Twenty20 in April, will not be called into ODI action on Friday.

Instead Finn will link up with the rest of the squad before the Test series starts in Chittagong on Friday, 12 March.
