Sachsenring crash

Pedrosa wins after crash halts German GP

Randy de Puniet has declared himself fit to race in Sunday's Czech MotoGP in Brno less than a month after breaking his leg in a crash in Germany.

The LCR Honda rider suffered the injury at Sachsenring on 18 July and had a titanium rod fitted in his left leg.

"It's a surprise to be here but a nice one. I started physiotherapy just three days after the operation on my leg and the recovery has been good," he said.

"I tested a standard bike last week in France and everything was okay."

He added that he actually expected this year's race to be easier than the 2009 race at the same circuit, where he rode in great pain after breaking his ankle.

The Frenchman lies seventh in the world championship standings, and is the best-performing non-factory rider so far this season.

He was replaced by American rider Roger Lee Hayden for the last race, at Laguna Seca in California, but follows reigning world champion Valentino Rossi in making a swift return from injury.

Rossi, who is widely expected to confirm his move from Fiat Yamaha to Ducati this weekend, broke his right leg at the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello but was back in action at Sachsenring, only 42 days later, and managed a third-place finish in his second comeback race, at Laguna Seca.
