Xabi Alonso was back in training with his Spanish team-mates ahead of their flight to Glasgow later on Sunday.

The Real Madrid midfielder missed their 3-1 Group I qualifying win over Lithuania on Friday through illness.

Defender Sergio Ramos was the only member of the squad to miss training, as a result of the ankle injury he suffered in that victory in Salamanca.

He will travel, though, and is expected to train with the rest of the team at Hampden Park on Monday evening.

Spain had already lost the services of Liverpool striker Fernando Torres, Barcelona midfielder Xavi, Arsenal playmaker Cesc Fabregas, Barcelona striker Pedro, Sevilla winger Jesus Navas and Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol through injury ahead of their win over Lithuania.

Alonso's return to fitness gives his coach, Vicente del Bosque, a decision to make.

His replacement against Lithuania - Santi Cazorla - peformed well, albeit in a slightly more advanced role from the one Alonso generally plays.

Spain played with just one holding midfielder - Barcelona's Sergio Busquets - against Lithuania but may revert to two for their away match against the Scots.
