0140: Here's a summary of what time everything gets going this morning. First practice begins at 0200 BST with the second session starting at 0600 BST. Coverage is on the Red Button, BBC Radio 5 live sports extra and in the console at the top of this page from 0155 BST. And there's little old me tapping away on here for the rest of you poor souls. Sorry about that.

Twitter
Lotus Racing on Twitter: "Weather update - dry today, rain coming in overnight, and MASSIVE rain tomorrow... all day... we love a wet quali so bring it on!"

0135: And a very good morning/evening to you. Welcome to first and second practice for the Japanese Grand Prix. Well done for staying up/waking up early. Yep, the championship run-in is certainly hotting up and there's more mind games going on in the F1 paddock than in the Apprentice boardroom. Thankfully though, none of the drivers has actually said: "Everything I touch turns to sold." Which is a relief.

0130: Five drivers, one world championship and there's only four races left. A time for shrinking violets? Not on your nelly. Here's Lewis Hamilton: "I need a strong result to get my title hopes back on track, and that will be my complete focus from the moment I first sit in the cockpit on Friday morning. Now is not the time to hold back; now is the time to fight."
