Izod wins fashionista battle to name Nets' arena

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Clothing maker Izod was awarded naming rights to Continental Airlines Arena by the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority on Thursday.

The building will be called the Izod Center.

Izod is a division of clothing and apparel maker Phillips-Van Heusen, and is a sponsor of the New Jersey Nets, who play in the arena.

Two other clothing companies -- Rocawear and Southpole -- bid to have their name on the arena.

Continental opted to take its name off the 26-year-old building since the New Jersey Devils are leaving for their new home in Newark.
