Pietersen says India is the best place in the world to play cricket
|
England captain Kevin Pietersen insists none of his players will be forced to return to India for the two-Test series after the terror attacks in Mumbai.
The tourists fly home on Friday but are scheduled to return in December.
"We will make every effort to come back and play in the Tests, but at the end of the day if it's not safe we won't be coming back," Pietersen told BBC Sport.
"I'll never force anybody to do anything. A man is a man and he can make his own decisions for himself."
The first Test is set to start on 11 December in Ahmedabad and the second, scheduled for Mumbai from 19 December, will take place at an alternate venue.
Pietersen says both matches would have to take place before Christmas and that plans were being under way to stage a practice match in place of the planned three-day game in Baroda from 5 December.
BBC Sport understands that a warm-up match could be played in Abu Dhabi or Dubai
"We'll get some training in, for sure," said the 28-year-old. "There are definitely talks going on, I'll be speaking to the coach and we'll be making plans.
"There are definitely places we have looked into in the last 24 hours."
More soon.
