Hughes to hold talks with Robinho

Robinho is expected to report for training at the weekend

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has said he will wait until Robinho returns from Brazil before deciding whether to take disciplinary action.

The 25-year-old forward left City's training camp in Tenerife on Monday citing family reasons.

"Robby left without permission, he felt he had personal things to address," Hughes told BBC Radio Manchester.

"He'll be back at the weekend ready to train, I'll explain my feelings and decisions will be made after that."

Robinho, who joined City for £32.5m from Real Madrid last September, has insisted that there has been no fall out with his manager.

"I have a good relationship with Mark Hughes and have always respected his decisions," he said on his personal website. "He is the boss."

"I admire the Manchester City fans, who are true lovers of football, and I am looking forward to delivering as many goals as possible to help our team move to the next level."

Meanwhile Hughes has played down rumours that Robinho was unhappy with the collapse of the Kaka transfer.

"I think he was already on a plane to Brazil before the deal was dead," he said.

"People trying to link the two are just trying to cause mischief."

And Hughes does not believe the collapse of the potential world-record transfer will stop him attracting other top players to Eastlands.

"There's been a lot of negativity," he added. "I think people have lost sight of what we were trying to do.

"We were trying to bring one of the best players in the world to Manchester City and I think we should be given a little bit of credit for that. We got very, very close.

"I think players will want to come here and we will be better because of the players we have already acquired."
