1951: Falkirk go close again! Patrick Cregg nicked the ball off Kirk Broadfoot, feeds it to Lovell once more and he curls a right-foot shot at the Rangers goal. Good save by the Rangers number one again.

"Unbelievable save from McGregor again."
BBC Scotland's Billy Dodds

1950: That was very similar to the move that led to Falkirk's opening goal at Ibrox a few weeks ago.

1949: First chance goes to Falkirk. Neil McCann slides a ball through for Steve Lovell but Allan McGregor makes the save.

1948: If you haven't seen Dean Holden's goal for Falkirk on Saturday, have a look at the Sportscene highlights. It's a belter.

1945: Sportsound commentator John Barnes tells us that Rangers have won six out of the previous eight meetings with Falkirk in the League Cup and its many guises under different sponsors.

1944: The teams are coming out on to the pitch. There are swathes of empty seats, I am sorry to report. Falkirk are wearing an all-white strip, while Rangers are in red.

1941: People, we have a pessimist in our midst... "All goals scored will be scrappy efforts out of nothing. Definitely won't come from a winger getting to the byline and whipping a delicios ball in for a striker, or someone mauruding through the middle and walloping one into the top corner or even flicking the ball over the top for a striker. Will all be big smash-ups in the box and tap ins." The thoughts of Aiden McGeady The King of the Wing - Splendid! on My Sport

1939: There will be highlights of the match posted on the BBC Sport website later this evening.. Let's hope there are plenty of goals...or even extra-time and penalties.

1937: Chick Young is reporting trackside for Radio Scotland's Sportsound programme. He reckons there are about 10,000 inside the stadium so far, with 25,000 expected by kick-off.

1935: Some Rangers fans are holding a banner at Hampden that says: "No Boyd=No Goals=No Title (again).

Well, you do the math.

1934: And now we have the team line-ups:

Rangers: McGregor, Broadfoot, Bougherra, Weir, Papac, Davis, Mendes, Ferguson, Naismith, Boyd, Novo. Subs: McCulloch, Fleck, Whittaker, Miller, Alexander.

Falkirk: Dani Mallo, McNamara, Bullen, Barr, Pressley, Scobbie, Arfield, McBride, Cregg, McCann, Lovell. Subs: O'Brien, Holden, Higdon, Stewart, Olejnik.

1930: Welcome to the live text commentary of Rangers v Falkirk in the Co-operative Insurance Cup.

First up, some news about tonight's teams:

Kris Boyd returns to Rangers' starting line-up, replacing the injured Kenny Miller up front for Rangers, while Steven Naismith takes over from John Fleck on the left of midfield.

Falkirk goalkeeper Robert Olejnik has been dropped after a poor weekend display, with Dani Mallo, the former Sporting Braga player who signed on Thursday, making his debut.
