1246: Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes weaves his way into the penalty box but his progress is brought to a halt by a solid challenge from Zander Diamond.

1245: "Aberdeen are really taking the game to Rangers, who haven't really managed to get forward so far in the game playing just one up front." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds.

1243: Allan McGregor has to deal with an awkward bouncing strike from Darren Mackie and snaffles it up comfortably.

1240: "The pitch is cutting up and neither side will want to take too many touches in and around the box before getting it clear." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds.

1238: Aberdeen win the game's first corner but the visitors deal easily with Charlie Mulgrew's ballooned delivery. The Dons then win a free-kick after David Weir is caught dithering on the ball and Allan McGregor makes a great diving save to push away Mulgrew's curling effort from 25 yards.

1235: Rangers teenager John Fleck breaks into the Aberdeen penalty area but his cross from the left floats harmlessly over the crossbar.

1234: Rangers skipper Barry Ferguson appears to be playing in a more advanced position, aiming to support lone striker Kenny Miller.

1232: "I'm expecting an absolute cracker. It's a hard one for Kris Boyd to take, but I'm sure he'll feature at some point. If Rangers are at their best I expect them to win today." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds.

1230: And we're off!

1228: Lee Miller will lead the line for the Dons, so it could be a bit congested if both sides go for five-man midfields.

1225: The BBC Radio Scotland commentary team reckon Lee McCulloch will be playing in a midfield holding role, with Kenny Miller up top on his own.

1220: "Noooo....... I cannot believe Walter Smith. McCulloch should not even be on the team bus!! Nor Dailly. These are the type of decisions which cost us points last season and will cost us again this season. It's not Murray who should go, it is Walter Smith!! I'm only surprised that Adam isn't there as well just to really depress me. McCulloch can't tackle, can't pass and can't score goals and defensively is a nightmare. 1216: "2-0 to the Dons" is the simple message from a confident jamie_afc_lufc. Join the debate on My Sport

1213: Jimmy Calderwood's side are unbeaten in their last four home games against Rangers, with the teams fighting out a 1-1 draw in August. The Dons were beaten 2-0 at Ibrox in November.

1208: "That decision baffles me, why would you leave your 22 goal striker out of such a crucial game. We could go top today but we pull out a decision like this?" BahrainBEAR is upset by Walter Smith's decision to omit Kris Boyd. Join the debate on My Sport

1205: TEAM NEWS:

Aberdeen: Langfield, Foster, Severin, Diamond, Mulgrew, Mackie, McDonald, Kerr, Aluko, Duff, Miller. Subs: Bossu, Wright, Vidal, De Visscher, Mair, Maguire, Considine.

Rangers: McGregor, Broadfoot, Weir, Bougherra, Papac, Davis, Ferguson, Mendes, McCulloch, Fleck, Miller. Subs: Alexander, Boyd, Novo, Dailly, Whittaker, Niguez, Ness.

1203: "Looks a very tough game for the Gers but if we can win it could be a crucial result for the league season as a whole." Boogie Bear is first up on My Sport. Join the debate on My Sport

1201: Some early team news from Pittodrie... Rangers' top-scorer Kris Boyd drops to the bench and Lee McCulloch gets a rare outing. It looks like 17-year-old John Fleck will be up front with Kenny Miller.

1200: Welcome to another action-packed day in the Scottish Premier League.

First up, we have red-hot Aberdeen taking on Rangers at Pittodrie. The Dons are on a high after slamming four goals past Celtic last weekend and have won their last six matches on home soil.

A win for Rangers would lift them to the top of the table, if only for a few hours, with Celtic having the chance to resume pole position when Hibs visit Glasgow.

The Easter Road side have a habit of making life difficult for Celtic and John Rankin will no doubt have been busy practicing his 'squigglers'.

Dundee United were trounced last Sunday and have the chance to bounce back at home to St Mirren, who saw their unbeaten run come to an end at Hibs.

Managerless Inverness have lost their last seven league outings and face a daunting visit to Tynecastle, where Hearts have lost just twice this season.

Finally, Motherwell host Falkirk, with Mark McGhee's team enjoying a fine run of form, while the Bairns haven't won a league game since 15 November - against today's opponents.
