Spaniard Alvaro Quiros will take a one-shot lead into the Qatar Masters final round after shooting an eight-under 64.

Quiros, aiming for his third European Tour title, made a strong start with five birdies on the front nine.

He collected three more at the 13th, 16th and 17th to nudge ahead of the halfway leader Louis Oosthuizen.

Holland's Maarten Lafeber and Swede Henrik Stenson sit tied for third at 12 under, four back, while Scot Andrew Coltart is a further shot adrift.

Coltart, the joint first-round leader, posted a 70.

Englishmen Lee Westwood (67) and Paul Broadhurst (69), and Spanish pair Sergio Garcia (67) and Miguel Angel Jimenez (70), are in a group of seven that are six shots behind.

Quiros is the longest hitter on the European Tour but he also showed his skill on the greens with two 20-foot birdie putts as well as several close-range efforts.

"I have been telling people that I am not just a long hitter," he said. "It has been a lucky week for me. I could see this score coming.

"I can't even remember when was the last time I won. I will be fighting for the trophy. Today was a good day of putting."
