Match scorecard
Andrew Strauss

Captain Andrew Strauss scored a hundred and Monty Panesar took seven wickets in the match as England thrashed a St Kitts & Nevis XI by 217 runs.

Strauss, who made a duck in the first innings, led England to a second innings total of 271-5, with under-pressure batsman Ian Bell making 49.

Chasing 445, the hosts were dismissed for 221 inside two sessions.

Panesar took three second-innings wickets and only Codville Rogers, who made 79, put up any resistance.

Alastair Cook retired on his overnight 50, leaving opening partner Strauss to cruise to his ton off 116 balls.

Strauss smashed a straight six off left-arm spinner Janel Turner in the opening hour before giving way to Prior, who joined Bell with the score 177-2.

But the pair were soon separated after a calamitous mix-up which resulted in a mid-pitch collision and the run out of Matt Prior, who had made just three.

Bell perished when driving for the second time in the contest, failing to clear mid-on as he looked to score off spinner Trevier Smithen, while Broad holed out for 36 before lunch.

The inexperienced hosts were 100-3 at tea and heading for a draw but paid the price for their aggression towards Panesar and leg-spinner Adil Rashid, who took 2-67 from 15 overs.
