1945: There are some days I am pleased to be marooned in a gloomy office in Shepherd's Bush, and today is one of them. It looks perishing cold out there. Those four early kick-offs are under way.

1942: Stand by your beds, or whatever you happen to be standing by, the teams are heading out at the earlier kick-offs. Why must there be two kick-off times tonight? Why, Premier League, why???

1940: "Re 1932: Not enough credit goes to the defence and the record is more Vidic's then Van Der Sar's."

1937: TEAM NEWS Blackburn v Everton
Jason Brown starts in goal for Blackburn after he replaced the injured Paul Robinson during the second half of the victory over Hull. Jason Roberts replaces the suspended Morten Gamst Pedersen in the only other change to the Rovers line-up. Joleon Lescott starts for Everton after he was rested during the 2-0 win over West Brom at the weekend. David Moyes shuffles his team around as a result with Leon Osman and Jack Rodwell coming in for Tony Hibbert and Marouane Fellaini.

1935: TEAM NEWS Fulham v Hull
Fulham make just one change as right-back John Pantsil returns from suspension and replaces Chris Baird. Hull boss starts with Geovanni, despite the forward's tantrum at being substituted in the defeat by Blackburn last time out. Defenders Anthony Gardner and Sam Ricketts, midfielder Craig Fagan as well as striker Daniel Cousin come in for Andy Dawson, Nathan Doyle, Richard Garcia and Dean Marney.

1932: Right then, Van der Sar fans, listen carefully, I shall say this only once. The Dutch keeper needs another 89 minutes to take Danny Verlinden's European league record. He'll need to not concede for another five matches and 65 minutes to beat the world record. By the way, I read today that Van der Sar has made an average of three saves per match this season. I know. Three!! It works out at one every 37 minutes.

1930: "In his programme notes, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp promised to shake up his squad following Sunday's Carling Cup final defeat but he makes only three changes. The Spurs players have just filed past me on to the pitch to begin their warm-up and they are all smiling and giving each other friendly jabs - no Wembley hangover here on that evidence."
BBC Sport's Chris Bevan at White Hart Lane

1928: TEAM NEWS Tottenham v Middlesbrough
Former Boro star Jonathan Woodgate has passed a late fitness test and makes the Tottenham XI, Heurelho Gomes keeps his place in goal, while Wilson Palacios and Robbie Keane - both ineligible for Wembley - start. Middlesbrough's Matthew Bates keeps his place alongside Julio Arca in midfield, while boss Gareth Southgate sticks with his trusty back four of Justin Hoyte, David Wheater, Robert Huth and Emanuel Pogatetz.

1924: "I can assure you Caroline that Man City v Aston Villa won't be a draw. Man City are the only team not to have drawn at home and Aston Villa are the only team not to have drawn away! Should be a cracker!"
Jacob in Stanmore, via text on 81111
Bet it's a draw...

1923: TEAM NEWS Wigan v West Ham
Wigan manager Steve Bruce makes two changes to the side beaten at Chelsea as Antonio Valencia and Mido recover from injury and go straight into the starting line-up at the expense of Paul Scharner and Olivier Kapo. There is just one West Ham change following Sunday's victory over Manchester City and that sees Mark Noble replace the injured Valon Behrami in midfield.

1919: "Re 1915: Ronaldo seriously needs to be rested against Fulham in the FA Cup, this will be his 15th consecutive game! Surely he is slightly human and must be tired? Surely? Even Vidic hasn't had as many games as Ronaldo and he was out for two months! He needs to be rested against Fulham so he is fresh for Inter!!"

1918: TEAM NEWS Newcastle v Man Utd
Wayne Rooney overcomes a virus to start for Manchester United, who make seven changes from Sunday's Carling Cup final. Edwin van der Sar, who has not conceded a Premier League goal for 1,302 minutes, returns along with Nemanja Vidic, Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher, Park Ji-Sung and Dimitar Berbatov. Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt is only on the bench for Newcastle after a recent injury so Alan Smith makes his first start of the season. Kevin Nolan is suspended, while six players, including Michael Owen, are out injured.

1915: Cristiano Ronaldo never seems to get a rest does he? Is this some sort of punishment for his antics last summer I wonder?

1913: "Re 1901: I wouldn't worry about it, just wait a while and we'll gift you something. Even at full strength I would bet on Man U winning this and we're a long way short of that."
Andrew from Newcastle, via text on 81111

1912: TEAM NEWS Man City v Aston Villa
Manchester City include Elano in their line-up for the first time in five games as Shaun Wright-Phillips and Felipe Caicedo are also drafted in. Robinho, Craig Bellamy and Micah Richards are all out. 1908: "A white covering will greet Newcastle United and Manchester United when they come out for the warm-up at St James' Park, courtesy of a wintry shower. And it looks like Sir Alex Ferguson is bringing back the big guns, with Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Carrick all back in his starting line-up. The mood among Newcastle fans is, at very best, grimly pessimistic. When one was told to be positive he said: " I am. I'm positive we'll get thrashed." Nice."
BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at St James' Park

1907: TEAM NEWS Stoke v Bolton
Stoke make three changes from the team which snatched a dramatic 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday. The scorer of City's equaliser in that game, Glenn Whelan comes in for Amdy Faye, Abdoulaye Faye replaces Ibrahima Sonko after passing a late fitness test and long-throw merchant Rory Delap returns from suspension in place of Danny Pugh in midfield. Kevin Davies plays his 200th game for an unchanged Bolton side from the one that beat Newcastle at the weekend. Wanderers are seeking their third win on the bounce tonight.

1901: "I'm a little worried about tonight's game against Newcastle. After all we put into Sunday this could be a draw."
Joe, United fan, via text on 81111

1856: It's 13 years to the day since Man United won at St James' Park as Newcastle squandered a 12-point lead at the top. The Magpies now find themselves in a relegation battle and their next three home games are against United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

1853: Mind you, Manchester City will have a bit of a pre-takeover look about them as they face Villa without Robinho and Craig Bellamy. City have won their last four home games. Villa have the Premier League's best away record.

1851: While we're wallowing in the past, Paul Ince received plenty of plaudits on the opening day of the season after his Blackburn side beat Everton 3-2. Likewise Hull's Phil Brown who saw Geovanni strike the first goal in a 2-1 win over Fulham. And as for Manchester City...

1845: Remember 17 August 2008? When Manchester United opened the defence of their Premier League title with a distinctly average 1-1 draw at home to an impressive Newcastle? Magpies boss Kevin Keegan was brimming with excitement about the potential of his side. Sir Alex Ferguson, still waiting for the arrival of Dimitar Berbatov, was forced to start with Fraizer Campbell.
Report: Man Utd 1-1 Newcastle
