India name World Twenty20 squad

India won the inaugural World Twenty20 in South Africa in 2007

Defending World Twenty20 champions India have named their 15-man squad for the tournament in England in June.

Fast bowler RP Singh has been included, with fellow paceman Munaf Patel and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik missing out from the original 16-man squad.

RP has been one of the IPL's most successful bowlers, taking 12 wickets in six games for the Deccan Chargers.

India, who have warm-up games against New Zealand and Pakistan, begin their defence against Bangladesh on 6 June.


India's World Twenty20 squad: Dhoni (captain), Sehwag, Gambhir, Raina, Yuvraj, Yusuf Pathan, Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan, Zaheer, Ishant Sharma, Kumar, RP Singh, Jadeja, Ojha, Irfan Pathan.
