Radcliffe hopes for Berlin return

Radcliffe ready to return

Paula Radcliffe has targeted August's World Championships in Berlin for her return from injury but says she will not take any unnecessary risks to race.

The 35-year-old marathon world record holder, who had surgery in March to remove a bunion on her right foot, hopes to resume full training in June.

Radcliffe said: "Hopefully I'll make the World Championships, but if I don't it will be an autumn marathon.

"I'm not going to go crazy to make it like I did for the Beijing Olympics."

Radcliffe, who finished 23rd at the Beijing Olympics, missed the last World Championships in Osaka, Japan in 2007 as she had just given birth to her daughter.

However, she won the marathon at her previous appearance at the Championships, in Helsinki in 2005.
