Artificial Sports Field can be used all round the year

Do you remember how disappointed you were when your favourite football match was cancelled due to wet fields? But, no more of this. Thanks to artificial sports fields. Artificial sports surfaces are weather resistant and so they can be used at any time of the year. The quality of the game is unaltered as compared to natural grass playing fields, thus viewing pleasure is not compromised.

An artificial sports field is fabricated from synthetic materials like polypropylene or polyethylene. It consists of a solid base which is designed to offer stability to the top layer of the synthetic sports turf which is made is made of artificial grass fibres tufted onto a backing cloth and in-filled with sand or a mixture of sand and rubber granules. The artificial sports fields made of polypropylene or polyethylene fibres are highly durable and can be used all year round. As they require minimal maintenance, the annual expenditure on them is smaller when compared to what is spent on the maintenance of natural grass sports surfaces.

Yet another advantage of artificial sports fields is that their playing characteristics can be altered significantly by changing the length and density of the fibres. For instance, an elite level field hockey pitch features short pile when compared to soccer. Similarly, for football, FIFA favours more thinly spaced longer fibres for the turf. Thus, artificial sports surfaces can be tailored to suit the sport that will be played on it. Pitches can be made especially for each of a variety of sports such as tennis, football, hockey, baseball, athletics, and many more.

Artificial sports fields or synthetic sports surfaces have features of durability, slip resistance, shock absorbency, and most importantly, minimal maintenance.
An artificial grass sports field requires power sweeping on a periodic basis, which helps to keep it in optimum condition for a longer period of time. This is done with the help of a soft cylindrical brush which can lift approximately 2-3mm of sand and pile. Such a sweeping action removes all the dirt particles and debris and prevents them from penetrating deep into the pile. Power sweeping also helps to keep the drainage system in its best condition.

Artificial sports surface cleansing is also undertaken for an artificial sports field which is over 3 years old and is suffering from either surface silt or poor drainage. Such a cleansing programme is important for maintaining the drainage system of a synthetic sports field whilst retaining optimum playing conditions.

Many sports construction companies also offer a regular cleansing and maintenance service for all kinds of artificial sports surfaces.
