Andy Murray will hope to kick-start his season when he begins the defence of his Aegon Championship title against Ivan Navarro at Queen's on Tuesday.

But the Scot, who has not reached a final since January's Australian Open, may have to defeat Marin Cilic, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic along the way.

"I look forward to the grass-court stretch," said third seed Murray, 23.

"Queen's is a great tournament. Winning last year was awesome - I'll go back there and try to win again this year."

The world number four, granted a bye in the opening round, starts his campaign against Navarro after the Spaniard beat Austria's Daniel Koellerer 6-3 6-4 on Monday.

The match is scheduled for third on Centre Court, weather permitting.

Murray will look to bounce back from a disappointing run of results and rediscover the form that saw him become the first British player since Henry Austin in 1938 to win Queen's.

He has reached just two quarter-finals since his loss to Roger Federer in the Australian Open final and was knocked out of the French Open by 15th seed Tomas Berdych in round four.

But Murray has been practising on the Queen's lawns for a week and believes he was close to rediscovering his best form prior to his Roland Garros disappointment.

"I was striking the ball very well again and feeling like I was moving good," he said before leaving Paris. "I look forward to playing another tournament now. I get to spend a lot of time at home in front of home support."

Highlights of Murray's 2009 win

Croatian Cilic, seeded fifth, is a possible quarter-final opponent, with top seed and newly-crowned French Open champion and world number one Nadal perhaps lying in wait in the last four.

Second seed Novak Djokovic, four-time champion Andy Roddick, former Wimbledon semi-finalist Richard Gasquet - who overcame Kei Nishikori 6-3 6-3 in the first round - and his fellow Frenchman Gael Monfils are also in the field.

Murray and brother Jamie were due to face Americans Sam Querrey and Scott Lipsky in the doubles on Monday, but rain brought a premature end to play and their match will now take place on Tuesday.

British number two Alex Bogdanovic, 26, was in action against Bulgarian wildcard Grigor Dimitrov, the 2008 Wimbledon junior champion, when the drizzle began to fall.

Bogdanovic, who won three matches to qualify for the tournament by right, collected the first set but lost the second to leave the match evenly poised at 6-4 3-6 2-1.

But Jamie Baker lost 6-1 6-4 to Denis Istomin and fellow Briton James Ward was beaten 6-3 7-5 by Robby Ginepri.
