Wladimir Klitschko says he is not taking the threat of Samuel Peter lightly as he prepares to defend his WBO and IBF world heavyweight titles.

Ukraine's Klitschko, 34, takes on 29-year-old Nigerian Peter in Frankfurt on Saturday in his 58th fight.

Klitschko said his fight against Peter in 2005, which he won on points, was "one of the hardest of my career".

"In the heavyweight division, things can happen fast, a knockout can happen at any moment," he explained.

Klitschko has a record of 48 knockouts in 54 wins, and only three defeats from his 57 previous fights.

Peter has already fought - and lost - to both Wladimir and elder brother Vitali Klitschko, and has 27 knockouts from 34 wins with three defeats.

He lost his WBC heavyweight title when he was knocked out by Vitali after a single successful defence in October 2008 in Berlin, having previously lost an IBF and WBO eliminator to Wladimir in 2005.

Five years ago, the younger Klitschko hit the canvas three times in Atlantic City before he won a unanimous decision against the African fighter and the champion will want a much more clinical performance.

But Peter has vowed to avenge that 2005 defeat in Germany this weekend.

"I will let my fists do the talking and I will win the title, this fight will be a classic," said Peter.

More than 50,000 fight fans are expected to pack the Frankfurt stadium on Saturday.

Klitschko had been due to fight a mandatory challenger, former Olympic champion Alexander Povetkin, but the Russian failed to sign the contract and was stripped of his status as the IBF's number one challenger.
