Ballesteros eyes 2010 Open return

Seve Ballesteros has targeted playing in the 2010 Open at St Andrews as he continues his recovery from brain surgery and chemotherapy.

The golfing great, 52, needed four operations on a malignant brain tumour and to reduce swelling in his skull.

The Spaniard won three Opens, including the 1984 Championship at St Andrews.

He said: "I would love to play there again next year for the British public. It's an objective I would like to turn into reality."

The 1984 Open saw Ballesteros win the title by two strokes from Bernhard Langer and Tom Watson.

He also triumphed at the 1979 and 1988 events, both at Royal Lytham and St Annes.

Ballesteros won the Masters in 1980 and 1983 in an illustrious career that resulted in him notching up more than 90 tournament wins.
