Dechy calls time on tennis career

Nathalie Dechy has announced her retirement from tennis at the age of 30 to spend more time with her family.

The pregnant Guadeloupe-born player turned professional in 1994, and played in 55 Grand Slam tournaments.

She won her only WTA title in the Gold Coast in 2003 and her best Grand Slam singles performance was reaching the last four in Australia two years later.

She also won three Grand Slam doubles titles and represented France in 18 Fed Cup ties.

Two of her Grand Slam successes were at the US Open, in 2006 and 2007, the same year she also won the mixed doubles at the French Open in 2007.

Her Fed Cup career lasted eight years, from 2000 to 2008, playing in both singles and doubles rubbers.
