Group withdraws Newcastle offer

Former Liverpool and England midfielder Steve McMahon was fronted the Profitable Group's offer
McMahon is the Profitable Group's commercial director

The Singapore-based Profitable Group has pulled out of a deal to buy Championship side Newcastle United, BBC Newcastle understands.

According to United managing director Derek Llambias, the group, fronted by former England player Steve McMahon, has withdrawn its offer for the club.

Last week, McMahon had admitted time was running out on the group's attempts to buy the Magpies.

United are for sale for £100m following their relegation.
