Olivier called up by Springboks

Wynand Olivier
Olivier will act as cover for Adrian Jacobs

South Africa have added centre Wynand Olivier to their squad for the Tri-Nations Test against New Zealand in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Outside centre Adrian Jacobs is doubtful for the match because of a groin strain.

Coach Peter de Villiers said: "They are still working with Adi (Jacobs). He is basically the only player our medical staff are working with."

Jaque Fourie is also facing a race against time to be fit.

The inside centre has a niggling quadriceps problem.

The world champions have been installed as favourites to win the title for the first time since 2004, but that tag that is disturbing De Villiers.

"We would love to be the underdogs," he said.

"We didn't write off the All Blacks and I'm not sure who did. We always knew that they were a good rugby side, as they showed on Saturday against the Wallabies.

"If you think you can pitch up for 60 or 70 minutes against the All Blacks then you're at the wrong place at the wrong time."
