West Ham winger Luis Boa Morte has suffered suspected cruciate ligament damage during the Asia Trophy game against Tottenham in China.

Boa Morte, 31, hurt his knee in a challenge with Spurs' Benoit Assou-Ekotto and he was fitted with a knee brace before being taken to hospital.

The injury happened only 10 minutes into a goalless first half at the Workers Stadium in Beijing.

The four-team Asia Trophy also features Hull City and Beijing Guoan.

Hull and Beijing face each other after the West Ham and Spurs game finishes.

Boa Morte could be sidelined for up to six months if the injury is confirmed.

Roman Pavlyuchenko came closest to breaking the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes but his curling effort came back off the post.

If the game is goalless at full-time, the winner will be decided by a penalty shoot-out.
