Vincent van der Voort beat Gibraltar's Dylan Duo and the snow to reach round two of the PDC World Championship.

The Dutchman had to walk three miles to London's Alexandra Palace because of the adverse conditions, which forced several players to miss their slots.

There had been fears the fourth day would be postponed altogether, but the action did eventually get under way.

"It was my worst preparation ever for a game so it's just good to win," said Van der Voort after his 3-0 triumph.

Van der Voort's flight to London was cancelled on Sunday, so he ended up reaching England via ferry from France.

"After having a sleep I left the hotel at 3pm to come across to Alexandra Palace," he said.

"It didn't matter how well I played. I just wanted to get through, and I've done that."

Terry Jenkins edged a five-set thriller with Paul Nicholson, winning 3-2 to move beyond the first round for the first time in three years.

Seventh seed Ronnie Baxter eased through with a 3-0 success over Japan's Haruki Muramatsu.

In the final game of the night, John Part, the tournament's fourth seed, defeated Dutchman Toon Greebe 3-0.
