Blackburn 2-0 MyPa (3-0)

David Bentley and Jason Roberts scored as Blackburn saw off MyPa to reach the first round proper of the Uefa Cup.

Jason Roberts should have put Rovers ahead early on but he missed from close range and was then denied twice by MyPa keeper Janne Korhonen.

Korhonen was in inspired form but he could not stop Bentley's sweet volley from Morten Gamst Pedersen's cross.

That all but ended the tie as a contest and Roberts finally found the net with a close-range backheel in injury time.

Blackburn are now unbeaten in 13 games in all competitions stretching back to last season.

They were on top from the start here but could not find a way past Korhonen during a frustrating first 45 minutes.

It would have been a different story if Roberts had managed to find the target from Brett Emerton's cross but his shot slid agonisingly wide with the goal gaping.

Korhonen then made the first of several saves when he denied Aaron Mokoena and he parried another effort from Roberts soon after.

Roberts could easily have had a hat-trick before the break but Korhonen was proving to be a formidable barrier and his next save, to deny the Grenada striker from close range, was sensational.

And, with Rovers holding only a single-goal advantage from the first leg, you sensed MyPa had hope they could still find a way back into this tie.

However, Bentley had other ideas and he all but ensured Blackburn's progress just after the break when he swept the ball home with a stunning finish from Pedersen's neat cross.

The game became a procession for the home side from that point, although Rovers keeper Brad Friedel did have to push away Tuomas Kuparinen's shot.

Blackburn were not finished yet however, and Roberts rounded off a comfortable victory when he flicked the ball into the net in the dying seconds.
