Brewster appointed Inverness boss

Craig Brewster says he has "unfinished business" at Inverness Caledonian Thistle after being appointed manager of the club for the second time.

The Highland club said Brewster has signed a two-year deal, with Donald Park remaining as his assistant.

Brewster, 40, had a previous 14-month spell as player-boss before joining Dundee United in January 2006.

"I'm just delighted to be back. It's not often you get a second chance and it's up to me to take it," he said.

Inverness chairman Alan Savage said Brewster, who will also register as a player, was the club's main target.

The veteran striker resumed his playing career at Aberdeen after lasting just nine months at Tannadice.

Speaking at a media conference at the Caledonian Stadium on Monday, Brewster said: "There's unfinished business and that starts today."

Inverness said they were delighted he was returning to the club for his second spell in charge.

Savage told the club website: "The board and David Sutherland, the club's major shareholder were unanimous in their selection.

"His immediate availability was a bonus but not a factor."

Charlie Christie stepped down as boss of the Highland club after losing the first three games of the season and Donald Park was in temporary charge against Dundee United.

Former Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock and St Johnstone's Owen Coyle were also on Caley Thistle's shortlist, but Savage said that Brewster was always the club's preferred option.

"He is the man we wanted and, importantly, he wanted to come here and prove a point.

"The board didn't want him to leave first time around as he was doing very well at the time.

"There is some budget left should our new manager decide he needs to bring in new players," added Savage.

Brewster's first game in charge will be Tuesday's CIS Insurance Cup tie at home to Arbroath.
