Gay faces Powell in sprint final

American Tyson Gay and Jamaica's Asafa Powell go head to head in the men's 100m final in the World Championships at 1420 BST on Sunday.

Britain's Marlon Devonish also qualified for the final after finishing second in his semi-final in 10.12 secs. Gay beat Devonish in 10.00 while Powell, the world record holder, eased up after 60m to record 10.08.

Mark Lewis-Francis posted 10.19 but could only finish in fifth in the semi, won by Derrick Atkins of the Bahamas.

Fellow Brit Craig Pickering came home sixth in his semi-final in 10.29.

Matic Osovnikar of Slovenia (10.17) and Marc Burns of Trinidad and Tobago (10.21) were the other qualifiers.

The first medal of the day went to Ecuador's Jefferson Perez , who won a third 20km walk title and collapsed over the line with cramp in one hour 22 minutes and 20 seconds.

Tunisia's Hatem Ghoula took silver with Mexico's Eder Sanchez third.
