Hamilton keen to rediscover form

Lewis Hamilton is keen to get "back on form" at Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix after seeing his championship lead slashed in two disappointing races.

The McLaren driver is just two points ahead of team-mate Fernando Alonso after finishing ninth last time out.

"After the last race, which was an eventuful one, it will be good to get back on form," Hamilton said.

"I have a great opportunity. I just have to do a great job. It's down to me and the team working together."

Hamilton also lost ground to Ferrari driver Felipe Massa at the European Grand Prix two weeks ago - the Brazilian is now 11 points adrift of the Englishman.

But Hamilton said: "I obviously still see Fernando as the main threat because he is my team-mate, the reigning world champion, the guy who sets the benchmark, the guy to beat.

"We have to take into account the Ferraris have been very, very quick, they've been great for the last few races.

"I still think our team is doing the better job and we've made less mistakes than them. I just hope we stay on top. That's what our job is - to be at the top."

Hamilto said he had fully recovered from the illness that hampered his European Grand Prix chances last month.

The Briton was unwell and suffered a crash in qualifying, before McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso won to move to within two points in the standings.

"I came away with a smile on my face because although I lost 10 points, I learned so much," said Hamilton.

"During the race I also reminded myself that you never give up."

He added: "After the race I went away to get over my sickness because I had been ill for the previous few weeks.

"I went to Finland, went to see a doctor to make sure I had the right medication, and I feel perfect now."
