First set:

Murray 3-0 Cuevas
A bit more of a test for Murray as Cuevas gets to deuce with a forehand pass but the Brit hangs on comfortably.

Murray 2-0 Cuevas
Pablo Cuevas is a dead ringer for Gaston Gaudio, according to one of my colleagues. That's the sort of insight you get here on a Bank Holiday Monday. Cuevas looks in good shape at 30-0 but Murray keeps him on the move and works his way to break point, forcing an error. The Scot is certainly hitting his forehand harder than in recent matches but he's yet to really unload on one.

Murray 1-0 Cuevas
Great News! Murray wins the toss and elects to serve. He thumps down a couple of big serves and takes the game with an ace.

1910: After extensive research I can tell you that Pablo is 21 years old, ranked 129 in the world, came through qualifying (during which he beat Britain's Jamie Baker), he enjoys surfing, his mother is an accountant, and he appears to spend most of his time playing doubles. On clay. Fair to say it's a pretty good draw for Murray.

1905: Andy Murray is about to begin his US Open campaign against Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas. Murray has been struggling with a serious wrist injury that put him out of the French Open and Wimbledon, and in his comeback matches he has not been keen to hit his forehand at full power. We should be able to tell pretty quickly today whether he's 100% fit.
