Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan has signed a four-year extension to his contract which means he will be in charge until 2012. Munster-born O'Sullivan has guided Ireland to three Triple Crowns in the last four seasons.
He was appointed in November 2001 and his deal was then extended to 2008.
However, the Irish RFU's decision to extend his contract for a further four years in advance of the World Cup will surprise some observers.
This means O'Sullivan will be in charge of the Irish at the 2011 World Cup.
But the IRFU is clearly more than content with how the Irish squad is progressing under O'Sullivan.
O'Sullivan was coach to the US Eagles in the 1999 World Cup having been Ireland's fitness advisor back in 1991 event when they were knocked out in the quarter-final stage by Australia.
