Pakistan squad clear in drug test

The Pakistan Cricket Board announced that all 26 players selected for routine out-of-competition drugs tests returned negative samples.

The tests were conducted at a training camp in Karachi ahead of next month's ICC World Twenty20 in South Africa.

Samples were sent to the International Olympic Committee accredited laboratory in Malaysia.

They included Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif, who both tested positive for nandrolone last year.

The two bowlers were initially banned in November but an appellate panel of the board cleared them of the charges and lifted their suspensions.

Four other players, bowlers Yasir Arafat and Danish Kaneria, batsman Younis Khan and wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider will be tested later as they are currently playing in England.
