Blues set to find out Mikel fate

Chelsea will find out on Tuesday whether they have been successful in their appeal against Mikel Jon Obi's red card at Manchester United.

The 20-year-old midfielder was handed a straight red by referee Mike Dean for his challenge on Patrice Evra in the first half of Chelsea's 2-0 defeat.

Chelsea submitted a claim for wrongful dismissal on Monday and a regulatory hearing will decide on Tuesday.

The red card cannot be reduced to a yellow by the FA's commission.

So if the hearing deems Mikel's tackle worthy of a card of any colour, the sending off will stand.

"We were playing well until Mikel was sent off and the game changed. It seemed the wrong decision," said new Blues manager Avram Grant after the match.
