Doddsy's predictions

Former Aberdeen, Chelsea, Dundee United, Rangers and Scotland striker Billy Dodds will this season analyse each weekend's Scottish Premier League fixtures.

Doddsy, now a respected pundit with BBC Scotland, here gives his views on this week's fixtures and predicts the scorelines.

HOW DID DODDSY DO LAST TIME?

Last time around Doddsy got just ONE CORRECT result and NO perfect scores.

THIS WEEK'S PREDICTIONS

SATURDAY

Motherwell v Rangers (1230 BST)

Motherwell have made a magnificent start to the season and Mark McGhee must take a lot of the credit, he has made the likes of David Clarkson, Steven McGarry and Jim Paterson look like different players.

McGhee has got them changing and moving on the pitch with flare and more importantly, believing in themselves.

Rangers have picked themselves up after their defeat at Tynecastle but could find it equally tough at Fir Park.

Barry Ferguson coming back into the side has helped as he is a massive influence and Walter Smith now has the core of his team sorted.

Prediction: 2-2

Aberdeen v Gretna

Aberdeen did well to come through their CIS Cup test at Firhill but their form has been disappointing.

However, they are still a tough team to beat and will be desperate to put a good run together. Although they have strength and pace, they are not a good team to watch just now.

The Borderers will have taken confidence from that great win over Dundee United last weekend, scoring three goals.

They are beginning to learn what the SPL is all about, but it will be a tall order for them at Pittodrie.

Prediction: 2-0

Celtic v Dundee United

This could be an interesting one. Celtic always score goals and I enjoy watching them play but they are always liable to concede.

Watching the likes of Shunsuke Nakamura, Aiden McGeady and Scott Brown's movement on the park is a joy but there is no doubt there are frailties in defence although they should have too much for Dundee Utd.

United bounced back from that blip against Gretna with a hard-fought win over Falkirk in the CIS Cup in midweek.

They are generally not conceding many goals but have the opposite problem to Celtic in that they are struggling up-front, Lee Wilkie has been bailing their strikers out recently.

Prediction: 2-0

Hibernian v Kilmarnock

Hibs pulled off a great result in beating Celtic last Sunday but went down heavily to Motherwell in the CIS Cup.

But the Easter Road side have a lot of energy and it could provide Kilmarnock with a tough day at the office.

Jim Jefferies' men were as poor as I've seen them as Hamilton knocked them out of the CIS Cup but with the likes of Invincible and Wales injured it was always going to be difficult.

Killie always seem to bounce back from poor results and will have to if they are to take anything from the capital.

Prediction: 2-1

Inverness CT v Falkirk

Caley Thistle are resurgent - and that is down to Craig Brewster who has come back in and instilled a belief that had been missing.

They showed great character to come from a goal down to beat Hearts last weekend and did well in the cup in midweek

It is always tough to get a result in the Highland capital but Falkirk always seem to enjoy going up there.

The Bairns play some great football despite not scoring many goals, but they seem to put themselves under a lot of pressure - this one could be tight.

Prediction: 1-1

SUNDAY

St Mirren v Hearts

St Mirren have been up and down. They put a couple of wins together but had a horrible run of results before getting a good point at Rugby Park last weekend.

The Buddies tend to be under a lot of pressure from the stands in home games but last week's draw with Killie will have given them confidence before Hearts visit.

The Tynecastle side were poor last week and some of their players just didn't seem to fancy it in Inverness.

I like Christian Nade and when he is up-for-it, Andrius Velicka, and if they play, they could be the difference.

Prediction: 1-2
