Jacobsen injury blow for Scotland

Scotland prop Allan Jacobsen's World Cup is over after the player sustained an injury in the 56-10 victory over Portugal in St Etienne.

The Edinburgh forward was stretchered off with a torn calf muscle and Scotland have today confirmed that he will miss the rest of the tournament.

Scotland coach Frank Hadden paid tribute to Jacobsen, nicknamed Chunk.

"It's a disappointment to lose him. He worked incredibly hard over the summer and was in great shape," he said.

Gloucester prop Alasdair Dickinson has been called up by Scotland as Jacobsen's replacement.

Dickinson, who turns 24 on Tuesday, is yet to win a full cap for Scotland.

"Ally was also part of our preparation squad so is very much up to speed with what we do, and he has worked assiduously on his development as a player," Hadden told the SRU website.

An elated Dickinson echoed the sentiments of his coach.

"I'm delighted to be called up, but obviously I feel a bit for Chunk because he's a good mate from my days with Edinburgh," he said.
