  • 1234: It's a balmy night in Shanghai with the temperature around the 23C mark. The pitch is wet so it will be a little bit heavy underfoot for the players.

1230: With Japan nicking a late winner against Argentina, Group A is now wide open.

If England, who drew 2-2 with Japan in their first game, manage to take a point from the Germany encounter then that would set them up nicely for their final, and crucial, group match against Argentina.

Coach Hope Powell is confident of a good result against a Germany team that put 11 past the South Americans.

"The team have come a long way in terms of overall belief, especially after what they have achieved over the last 18 months and certainly in the game against Japan," said the 40-year-old England coach.

"They feel confident and have a belief in what they are doing and they are aiming high which is no bad thing as they want to do well in this competition."
