1342: That's Arsenal's fourth penalty in four home games.

1341: GOAL Arsenal 1-0 Portsmouth
Emmanuel Adebayor steps up and casually slots with Daivd James going the other way. "Ad-e-bay-or, Ad-e-bay-or." King of cool from the spot.

1340: And a really bad start for Portsmouth as David James brings down Robin van Persie and concedes a corner. The Dutchman latches on to a poor back pass and is upended by the sliding keeper on the left of the area.

1339: A really bad start to the game with lots of poor passes.

1335: Messy defending by Phillippe Senderos from a corner, but Arsenal clear.

1333: Hold your horses. A football match has broken out in amongst all this hugging. The lovely Ian Brown is commentating on BBC Radio 5live and you can listen to him on this website if you're a UK user.

1330: Kolo Toure is Arsenal skipper today and the PA announcer is reading out the names in a Euro fashion where everyone chimes in with the surnames. One of the worst ideas since someone mentioned the words "European Dance Contest" to a TV exec.

1329: All this good feeling has spilled over on to the pitch after the players come out. Arsenal old boys Kanu and Lauren are full of hugs for their old team-mates.

1328: Arsenal and Portsmouth are having a right old love in down there, well, at least Emmanuel Adebayor is. He can't get enough of hugging people in blue.

1327: They fell short of the world record. Unlucky chaps.

1326: The Pompey players emerge and keeper David James and referee Mark Halsey have a right old giggle. Halsey likes the visitors. He and Herman Hreidarsson attempt a world record for the longest handshake.

1321: The pitch gets a last-minute watering.

1320: Stop looking for the Ray Bans or whatever they are, the sun's gone and so have the players. That's enough warming up. Let's get on with it.

1318: Are your sunglasses handy? The sun's come out from behind the clouds and is gleaming down on the Emirates.

"I've got my sunglasses on. It's 30 degrees by the pool in Majorca. Beer in hand, 6-0 to the Mighty Reds yesterday. Does it get any better than this?"

"I've heard on the grapevine that Portsmouth are going to play 4-4-2 and have a real go at Arsenal today."
Lee Dixon, BBC Radio 5live pundit

1313: If you feel the need you can get in touch with us at any stage during the afternoon via text on 81111. In addition feel free to join the banter on 606.

1310: North London's red bowl is filling up and the players are warming up.

1307: BBC Radio 5live have been on air for a while with the lovely Eleanor Oldroyd in charge of things. You can listen to commentary on the game from the Emirates on 909 & 693 MW.

"What? So the BBC's not racist and now not sexist too! How about, "The lovely Alistair Bruce-Ball" or "the lovely Alan Green"? That's not why we tune in. Sack the writer and do us all a favour." ChalkyBear on 606

1304: Portsmouth have not won at the Gunners since 17 September 1955 and BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson doesn't reckon they're going to today either.

1301: Pompey have not beaten Arsenal in the Premier League, although they might be getting closer to it after two draws last season.

1300: TEAMS NEWS Arsenal v Portsmouth
Emmanuel Adebayor partners Robin van Persie in the Gunners attack. Pompey hand a start to new boy Glen Johnson, but former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell is not fit to play. More problems for Steve McClaren.

"I can guarantee you that whoever plays on Arsenal's left that they will absolutely tear Glen Johnson apart. A worthy candidate for Biggest Waste of 4m ever."

1257: First up is Arsenal at home to Portsmouth, which gently rolls into a 1500 BST game between Blackburn and Manchester City before Aston Villa host Chelsea at 1600 BST.

1255: For live action stay here. Not quite live, but we're getting closer with every passing minute.

1253: Sunday's greeting in the Henderson inbox included a message from Mr Howarth who sent in a reasoned argument as to why referee Steve Bennett deserves a weekend off after his "utter disgrace of a performance" at Newcastle on Saturday. Debate that issue here...

1250: Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. Football's the global game, the internet's a global gathering and that was your global greeting.
