Noon out but hope over Robinson

England centre Jamie Noon has been ruled out of the remainder of the World Cup with a knee ligament injury.

The Newcastle back is likely to return home but no decision has yet been made about a possible replacement.

But England still hope Jason Robinson will play some further part in the tournament despite a hamstring strain.

Both players were injured in England's 36-0 defeat by South Africa on Friday and had scans on their respective injuries on Saturday.

The 33-year-old Robinson, who hobbled off after a fine display at fullback against the Springboks, will retire after the World Cup following a stellar career.
