INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Cleveland guard Eric Snow will have surgery on his left knee and will likely miss the entire preseason after getting hurt last week while working out at the Cavaliers' new training facility.

The 12-year veteran tore cartilage in his knee and will have an operation Tuesday at the Cleveland Clinic.
The 34-year-old will be sidelined four to six weeks and could miss the start of the regular season. The Cavaliers, who won their first Eastern Conference title last season, open this season at home against Dallas on Oct. 31.
"It wasn't as serious as some other injuries are," Snow said Monday during the club's media day. "It happened early in the season, which I want to get started. But I'd rather get healthy and finish the season if I had my choice.
"They say it [recovery] will take six weeks but everyone's body is different. Hopefully it won't take that long, but I want to make sure it's fine and come back so it's healed and I can finish the season."
The durable Snow has played in 409 of a possible 410 games since the 2002-03 season. He averaged 4.2 points and 4.0 assists in 23.5 minutes last season, but his biggest contribution came on the defensive end.
The Cavaliers opened training camp on Monday.
"It's not a good time," Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said. "If there is one positive, he has been in our system for two years so it won't take him long to catch up. He won't be very far behind."
