Joe Cole believes his England and Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard is "invaluable" for both club and country. Lampard, 29, has recently returned from injury but may not start Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Estonia because of the form of Gareth Barry. Cole told BBC Radio 5live: "Frank is invaluable, one of the best midfielders in the world and the benchmark for getting goals from a midfield position. "The manager [Steve McClaren] has a lot of selection problems that he'll love." Wembley Stadium

Lampard has been a regular in the England team for the past four years and has racked up 56 caps, many of them alongside Steven Gerrard in central midfield.
But Lampard was injured for the qualifiers against Israel and Russia last month and Barry impressed alongside Gerrard with two terrific performances in the 3-0 victories. Cole came in for some criticism for his displays in those games, but the former West Ham star says he and Lampard along with every other player must keep fighting for their place. He added: "England missed Frank and Chelsea missed Frank and it is great to have him back in the squad - he is another world-class player here. "There are a lot of players in great form in England at the moment and that is good news because all the best teams have competition for places. "As a footballer you have to be on your toes, you know you need to perform. I'm happy with my last two games for England but I want my next two to be even better." Meanwhile, striker Wayne Rooney says he and Michael Owen can form an effective partnership up front for England.
The pair have not played together since the World Cup last summer - when Owen was carried off injured just a minute into the group game against Sweden. Owen was partnered to great effect by Emile Heskey against Israel and Russia but Rooney - who missed those games through injury - will start as Heskey has a broken metatarsal. Rooney said: "I don't know whether Michael prefers playing with 'a big man', but he's a great player and he scores goals for his club and country. "I am sure that if we play up front together we will do the job that we need to do. "It's difficult because we haven't played much together for a while but we're good enough to work it out and the chemistry should follow."
